Positions
on Public Policy
An overall waste management strategy includes waste minimization, recycling/reuse, and landfill and incineration disposal. It has been shown conclusively that combustion is a controllable process, and when controlled, will produce minimal environmental impacts. Industry supports the use of controlled incineration. Incineration should be practiced using the best available techniques that conform to all relevant regulations. Background Uncontrolled combustion, whether open burning or unintentional fires, has been shown to generate considerable pollution. Uncontrolled combustion as a waste destruction technique should be minimized.
