Member Activities

CGLI began a strategic planning process in February 2011 to reform its issue agenda to address the region’s changing economic conditions and political priorities. The process involved  internal discussions and interviews of current members and non-members who have worked with or otherwise encountered CGLI while working on Great Lakes issues. Predominant themes, ideas, and suggestions that resulted from these interviews were incorporated into a strategic plan.

One component of the strategic plan was member activity with the development of issue-focused member work groups to actively engage members at multiple levels in promoting sustainable development in the Great Lakes region. Work groups focus on specific topics and issues in the Great Lakes region and offer members and subscribers an opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of how the topic or issue may impact industry operating in the basin. If appropriate, work groups may implement action-oriented projects that address specific aspects of the work group agenda.

CGLI’s current work groups include Chemicals Management, Resilience and Preparedness, Water Use and Quality and Governance and Policy. For more information about our work groups or questions about joining, please contact us.
